The Pax 3 is the most recent addition to the already incredible line of Pax portable vaporizers. By boosting the heating system and battery life, and adding haptic feedback, Pax Labs has given us a smarter, faster, and stronger portable vaporizer than the original Pax and Pax 2. Building on what its predecessor started, the Pax 3 now features a mobile app, half-pack oven lid for smaller sessions, and a wax concentrate insert allowing you to fully customize and control your vaping sessions.
The Pax 3 has a partner app that allows you to customize your session with individual temperature selections and with different heating profiles. While downloading the app isn’t a necessity to use the Pax 3, it does give the user a more customizable experience, and since the Pax 3 does not have an LCD display some users might prefer using the well styled app instead. Once inside the app users are able to get quick access to the Pax online store to buy replacement parts, change the colors of their LED lights, and change their haptic feedback. The biggest advantage of the app is the ability to change temperatures while enjoying the various modes offered to enhance your vape session. Here is a quick breakdown of each mode and what you can expect from them:
Standard Mode:This mode should be familiar to those who used the original Pax or the Pax 2. The oven heats up 5°-10°F when you start puffing on it. Using the Pax Vapor App you’ll be able to see the exact temperature of your vape, in real time. By swiping the temperature horizontally you can adjust the Pax in 5° intervals, and if you swipe vertically the temp will increase by just 1°. This applies to each mode available on the app.
Boost Mode:If you’re used to a “hot vape” or wanting to feel each draw in your throat, Boost Mode is here for you. This mode reduces cooling in between sessions to maintain ideal vaporization temperature. If you’re looking for a faster session or denser clouds this is the preferred setting. This setting is the least discrete mode, essentially for when you want to “blast off”.
Efficiency Mode:Users who are concerned with getting the most out of their dry herb will enjoy Efficiency Mode. Based on how hard you puff, the Pax 3 will gradually increase in temperature by a few degrees throughout your session. This is ideal for unlocking different terpenes, flavor notes, and promoting thorough vaporization.
Stealth Mode:Discretion can be the name of the game for some vaporizer users. In this mode the LED lights on the Pax 3 are disabled and the cooling function works to reduce odors allowing for stealthy, quick hits.
Flavor Mode: Obviously all about the flavor of your herb, this mode is a lot like the standard one only it cools down and heats up faster and stronger to deliver maximum possible flavor on each draw. This mode only heats your herbs when you are actively drawing from the Pax 3, satisfying those who value flavor and vapor smoothness over big clouds.
If you opt out of downloading the Pax Vapor App you’re just a few button clicks away from vaping. To enter the temp set mode, hold the power button down for two seconds after turning your vaporizer on. The LED light will indicate which setting you’re currently on with a bright color coded signal. One green bar means low, two yellow bars is medium low, three orange bars equals medium high, and four red bars indicates the Pax 3 is at its highest temperature setting. As soon as you get to your desired temp hold the power button down or shake the Pax 3 to begin heating.
Up until this point each Pax has been designed specifically for dry herb usage. This is not so with the Pax 3. Thanks to a concentrate insert you can now vape runny to waxy consistency concentrates on-the-go. The Pax 3 vapes waxy oils just like it does with dry herb: slow and low while delivering smoother, more flavorful hits than other portable vaporizers. The flavor profiles of your concentrates are on full display with the Pax 3. Thanks to its heating abilities the Pax 3 can stretch just a touch of wax across a 15 minute vape session. For the sake of convenience, the wax insert is designed for easy cleaning AND is leak proof. For vaping wax concentrates Pax Labs suggests using the highest heat setting.
With a spacious herb chamber, the Pax 3 caters to those who use their vaporizer for multiple sessions throughout the day, as fewer reloads means a seamless vaporization experience. For those who might want a more mellow session the Pax 3 features a new half-pack lid that cuts the chamber size down for smaller sessions. Simple to use and designed for easy cleaning all you need to do is insert the half-pack oven lid into the chamber and load your dry herb. With the half-pack lid you can expect about 2 sessions, the lid especially comes in handy if you only have a few pinches of dry herb left and don’t want to worry about wasting herb.
To load dry herb, the Pax 3 has a stealthily placed chamber opening at the bottom of the unit itself, requiring just a quick push on one side of the bottom to pop open the oven lid. After the lid is opened up, simply load your ground herb, snap the lid back on, and press the mouthpiece to turn on your Pax and start its heating process. When the petals on the body of the Pax all turn green and you feel the vibration, the vape is ready to use. A quick press and hold of the mouthpiece turns the Pax 3 off.
Utilizing a 3500mAh lithium ion battery the Pax 3 has 500mAh more power than the last Pax vaporizer, which translates to around 17% longer battery life. The Pax 3 comes with a magnetic charging dock that self-attaches and charges the unit via USB. When fully charged the Pax 3 can run for close to 1.5 hours. The boosted power of the Pax 3 greatly reduces the previous models 45 second heat up time, with the lowest vaping temp on the Pax 3 being reached in just 15 seconds and the hottest just an extra 5 seconds on top of that. The Pax 3’s rapid heat time makes it much easier to take quick on-the-fly hits while out and about. This heat up speed makes the Pax 3 one of the more discreet portable vapes out today.
To ensure ultimate discretion the Pax 3 introduces haptic feedback, aka vibration alerts, similar to what advanced smartphones have today. Rather than wait for a display to alert you when your vape has reached its set temperature, you’ll be alerted by vibrations. This feature enables you to keep your Pax 3 concealed when not in use for low-key sessions. If your Pax 3 happens to enter standby mode, a vibration will bring this to your attention as well. The Pax Vapor App allows users to adjust vibration strength, permitting you to choose either a quieter vibration for a more discreet environment, or if your active lifestyle demands it, a strong buzz to make sure you’ll never miss a shutdown or set heating temperature.
Pax Labs has always put an emphasis on design and the Pax 3 is the pinnacle of those efforts. The Pax 3 has a smoother, more elegant look that its metallic brushed predecessor. To satisfy even the most stylish of vape users the Pax 3 comes in Rose Gold, Gold, Silver, and Black. The exterior is made of highly polished anodized aluminum that is very durable yet not hard to the touch, making it pleasant to grip during your vape session. With an ergonomic design the Pax 3 vape doesn’t have a clunky or “too thick” feeling when in hand. Boasting a heavy duty build, the Pax 3 is also protected by a 10 year warranty so even if your vape does end up damaged Pax Labs has your back.
To ensure optimal vapor production and airflow it is crucial to keep your Pax 3 vapor path and screen residue free. Pax includes a wire brush with each order for when heavy cleaning is necessary, and some pipe cleaners for when it’s a lighter cleaning session. To clean the Pax 3 remove the mouthpiece and brush out the vapor path, then take off the oven lid to scrub out the chamber. These quick cleaning techniques will ensure the best vaporization possible. To remove heavy residue build up, a few drops of isopropyl alcohol, followed by a generous scrub using the wire brush, will break down resin or melted concentrates. If you do end up using isopropyl alcohol make sure to do a “burn off”, setting your vape at the highest temp and running it with no herb in the chamber, to ensure that no alcohol residue stays inside the unit to surprise your taste buds during your next session.
