Vape World Hempfest 2009

Vape World's first trip to the West Coast took us from Las Vegas, Nevada to Seattle, Washington within a week. Our trip to Seattle was not only new for the Vape World crew but also for the company. We are located in Florida so we usually stay on the East Coast but after attending Hempfest we will be there every year without a question.

Hempfest is a completely volunteer based 2 day festival that goes on without any hitches. It’s a reform calling towards laws on medicinal herbs and with about 700,000 attendees in 2 days, not only is it growing but it should definitely turn some heads on that movement.

We landed in Seattle on Thursday evening and immediately checked in at the beautiful Sheraton Seattleand ate at their Daily Grill restaurant before scoping out the downtown area. Downtown Seattle is a super clean city with a certain city "vibe" geared towards freedom of who you are and what you believe – refreshing was the feeling we all had.

We rented our canopy and tables from Kevin's Event Rentals out of Seattle – not only was Lauren and Kevin super helpful, but had amazing pricing and set it up for us and broke it down after we left. Our vaporizers were shipped to the FedEx conveniently located across the street from the Sheraton.

The day before Hempfest was our first time in 8 days we had nothing work related to do. We immediately went and saw District 9 which if you still haven’t watched, is a visionary masterpiece that everyone should see. From there we explored the streets of Seattle as well as the piers where the cruise ships come in. A relaxing ending to a day with the iolite portable vaporizer was the icing on the cake.

Day 1 of Hempfest was super hectic. We setup our tent with the ability for customers to come in and check out 3 tables of product out in the open. There were only 3 of us and Chris was out in the swarm bringing people into the tent. Bad idea – every swarm of soon-to-be vaporists left the 3 of our street team bombarded and not able to watch over product. The sheer number of people was ridiculous, there was an estimated 350,000 people in that first day that passed by our booth. When Hempfest shut down that night we immediately planned out a way to protect our product and still give people enough space to check out the booth and to learn about vaporizers for the next day. We boxed up the rest of the vaporizers not sold and headed back to the hotel around 11:00pm.

Day 2 of Hempfest gave us a new start on how to represent Vape World, the booth and keep us sane. We put the main table out into the front blocking off anyone from getting behind us to help prevent theft yet still giving ample room for people to see demonstrations and learn. Sending out the message of vaporization and your health was the main goal for day 2. Thousands of people stopped by our booth to learn about why vaporizers are more effective and healthier than any other form of smoking. The 2nd day ended with a beautiful sunset, perfect weather and sense of well being that we traveled thousands of miles to go to an amazing festival and met a bunch of cool people. We will see you at Hempfest 2010.
